How to Make a Roll Out Flower Garden

If you are too busy to plant a flower garden in your flower beds this year, you can still have lush beds using a roll out flower garden. A roll out flower garden is a seed mat that is rolled onto an empty garden bed or planter. All you have to do is water it regularly once rolled out and you will be able to enjoy a flower garden without all of the labor and time. The ideal time to plant a roll out garden is in the spring after all danger of frost has passed for your area.

Things You'll Need

• Empty garden bed
• Bow rake
• Roll out flower seed mat
• Garden shears
• Watering can

     Rake over the empty garden bed with a bow rake. This will loosen the soil and free up any weeds that may have started in the bed. Pull up any loosened weeds with your hands and remove them from the garden bed.

     Roll out the flower seed mat with the green fiber side down. Trim the mat to size as needed with garden shears so that it fits the flower bed perfectly.

     Water the seed mat thoroughly. Continue to water the seed mat twice daily to ensure that the mat stays moist at all times. This is especially important for the first 10 to 20 days.
