The care and cultivation of most types of lilies can be a difficult process for the amateur gardener -- and even for the professional in some cases -- because of the delicate nature and strict requirements of the flowers. One of the simpler tasks, however, is that of pruning or cutting back to limit growth. The process used in trimming a lily is called deadheading.
