Clematis Varieties for Cold Climates

Clematis is an ornamental vine, best known for its beautiful star-like flowers that bloom during spring and summer. Clematis comes in many different varieties. If you live in a colder area, such as in a climate zone 3 of the USDA climate map, which can experience cold temperatures down to minus 40 Celsius, you should look for a hardy variety of clematis to plant in your garden.
  1. Alice Fisk

    • Alice Fisk has the largest flowers for cold-hardy clematis. Its blue flowers are 6 to 9 inches wide. It flowers in May, June and September and grows to a height of 6 to 8 feet. It is hardy from climate zone 3 to climate zone 9 of the USDA climate zones.
