Instructions

    • 1

Measure 2 cups of water with a measuring cup. Pour the measured water into a vase that is tall enough to support the stems and heavy blooms of tulips.

    • 2

Measure 1 cup of clear soda with a measuring cup. Choose a soda that contains sugar and citric acid. Pour the measured soda into the vase with the water.

    • 3

Remove 1/2 inch of the stem with a pair of scissors. Cut the bottom of the stem as it will seal itself over after being cut. Cutting the stem opens it so it will draw water up to the bloom from the vase.

    • 4

Arrange the tulip flowers in the vase based on the number, bloom color and personal preference. Display the vase of tulips out of direct sunlight and away from air vents.

    • 5

Change the water each day to prolong the life of the cut tulips. Empty the water from the vase and refill with the water and soda mixture.
