How to Rent a Raised Flower Bed Garden

Meet other locals, get exercise and improve the greenery in your area by renting a raised flower garden. While rules and regulations may differ from city to city, community gardening is driven by the American Community Gardening Association, which works to build a community through gardening and greening across the United States and Canada. The belief is that community gardening improves quality of life while creating attractive scenery and edible foods in rural and urban neighborhoods.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact your city's parks and recreation department to inquire about renting a community flower garden plot.

    • 2

Find a local community garden, if one is not available in your city. Locate a garden through the American Community Gardening Association by visiting communitygarden.org.

    • 3

Contact the department or person recommended to obtain further information about the community garden.

    • 4

Determine the garden plot size you would like to rent, if more than one is available.

    • 5

Register to rent the garden plot within in the time frame determined by your city.

    • 6

Pay the required fee (about $20 in 2011). Once registered and paid for, the garden plot is yours to work during the gardening season, the duration of which is determined by your city.
