Select a central object for the shrine. This may be a bouquet of flowers, a large flower pot, statue, picture or other item. Place the central object in the center of the outdoor flower shrine.
Lay a rug or other cloth in front of the central item. This will create the peripheries of the shrine in which flowers can be placed. If this outdoor flower shrine is for aesthetics only, leave yourself the option of omitting the rug. If the shrine's purpose is to commemorate a person or object or is a worship site, use a rug to sit on.
Place the flowers in a vase or several vases depending on how many flowers your shrine has. If your flower-based shrine uses potted flowers, arrange the pots to your liking.
Arrange the shrine with an assortment of incense and flowers around the centerpiece.
