How to Hang Daffodils to Dry

Fresh flowers provide a natural, colorful and fragrant home accessory during blooming season. Unfortunately, the beauty of fresh flowers cannot last forever and it can be difficult or expensive to keep fresh flowers during colder months. Drying techniques can help to preserve your flowers for years, provided that you dry them properly and handle them carefully afterwards. Preserve your daffodils long after you have cut them by hanging them to dry.

Instructions

    • 1

Separate the daffodils into bunches of four flowers each.

    • 2

Wrap a rubber band tightly around each bunch, about 1 inch from the ends of the stems.

    • 3

Cut a 12-inch long piece of string for each bunch of daffodils.

    • 4

Knot the end of each string around the rubber band on each of the bunches.

    • 5

Knot the opposite end of each string to a clothes hanger. Slide the knotted strings along the clothes hanger to space the bunches evenly.

    • 6

Hang the clothes hanger in a dark closet for two weeks. Sunlight will fade the yellow coloring from the daffodil petals.
