Purchase 100% acetone from your local pharmacy. Pour a small amount of the acetone into a glass or metal container. Acetone tends to eat through most types of plastic. For that reason, a plastic container should be avoided.
Dip your Q-Tip inside of the Acetone so that the ball of the tip is completely soaked. If you have a larger glue spot to remove, you can use a cotton ball instead of a Q-Tip. Just soak the cotton ball in the Acetone the same as you would the Q-Tip.
Place the ball of the Q-Tip or the cotton ball directly onto the glue spot. Hold the Q-Tip on the spot for 10 to 15 minutes. Since the Acetone dries quickly, you may have to dip the ball of your Q-Tip back into the Acetone to soak it again every few minutes.
Use a soft bristled toothbrush to gently scrub the remaining glue residue from the surface of the wood.
Wipe the area down with a wet towel to remove any Acetone that may have gotten onto the wood.
