How to Stablize a Wooden Folding Table

Wooden folding tables serve a variety of purposes and are ideal for numerous functions. They are commonly used at large banquets and get-togethers as well as for card games and inexpensive patio furniture. While advantageous in most senses, a wobbly wooden folding table is distracting. The usefulness of the table decreases when the table is not stable. Fortunately, you can easily rid yourself of the annoyance of an unsteady table by stabilizing it with a few common tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the width of the bottom of one of the table legs on the wooden folding table with a ruler.

    • 2

Center the measurement on the cork and add approximately 1cm to the measurement. The extra centimeter ensures that the cork will fit over the bottom of the table leg. Mark the measurement with a pencil, and draw a circle the width of the measurement onto the cork. Employ a compass with which to draw an exact circle if you wish. Simply measure the length of the cork and divide the width in half to find the center of the cork, which is the radius. Position the point of the compass at the center of the cork and open the compass to the appropriate width with which to draw your circle before positioning the pencil within the compass and twirling it around the cork to create your circle.

Cut into the cork with a knife, following the circle guide you drew on the cork. Dig the knife into the cork and push upward to remove the cut area from the cork.

    • 4

Push the cork onto the bottom of the shaky table leg to stabilize the wooden folding table. It should fit snugly around the table leg. Remove the cork from the table leg and dig more cork out of it with the knife if necessary.
