How to Clean Wood Tables

Wood tables can make a room warm and inviting. Wood tables, however, need to be cleaned and taken care of a little differently than other types of tables. Tables made of wood that are used frequently, such as a coffee table or a dining room table, should be cleaned regularly. Every so often they need to be waxed. This will keep your wood tables in pristine condition so they will last a long time.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour one gallon of hot water into a bucket. Add the two drops of dish soap and mix.

    • 2

Soak your rag in the dish soap mixture and then wring it out.

    • 3

Wipe your table down with the wet rag, including the legs and sides of the table.

    • 4

Poor some mineral spirits on a cotton rag. Wipe the rag going with the grain of the table. The mineral spirits will clean any tough spots or stains on the table, and get rid of any previous oils that you may have been using on your table.

Apply wax to your table. Only do this once per season so the wax doesn't begin to build up on the wood. You can use either paste wax or furniture wax. Dip a cotton cloth in the wax and then wipe it on your table using long strokes back and forth. Do this until you have covered the top of the table.

Wait for the wax to dry and then spend a few minutes buffing it with a clean cloth.
