Instructions

Take the piece of furniture outside and away from open flames and sparks. Mineral spirits give off toxic fumes and are also highly flammable. Read and follow the warnings on the mineral spirits container so you can use them safely.

Put on the rubber gloves and the safety goggles. Then, dip the cloth in the mineral spirits. Rub the glass rings on the wood furniture to make them disappear. It may take a few minutes of rubbing to erase the stains. Dip the cloth to get more mineral spirits as needed. The chemical will dissolve the wax finish on the wood to remove the spots.

Compare the area on the furniture you just cleaned with the surrounding surface. If it looks dull, clean the entire surface with mineral spirits, according to Reader's Digest. Then apply a coat of furniture wax to bring back the shine.
