Types of Table Hinges

Butler Tray Hinge

• The butler tray hinge is used on tables with tray tops for serving. These hinges are spring loaded to hold the table in the up and down positions, respectively. They can fold to 90 degrees and snap flat. Computer desks use this type of hinge for a keyboard drawer, allowing you to leave it out of sight when not in use.

Card Table Hinge

• The card table hinge is similar to the butler tray hinge in that both are mortised, or cut, into the wood. Most card table hinges are cut into edge of antique card tables and this allows the top to fold onto itself.

Drop Leaf Table Hinge

• The drop leaf table hinge is mounted under the surface of a table that has leaves that drop down. Drop leaf tables have a fixed center, and the hinges placed on either end allow the leaves to be dropped.

Table Leg Hinge

• The table leg hinge allows the table legs to fold up for easy storage when not in use. It is compatible with any size table leg. A spring activated trigger release provides positive locking in the open and closed positions.
