How to Restore the Shine to a Light-Colored Wood Table Top

Wax is very useful for anything from shining up an antique wood table to sprucing up your current wood table. When working with a light-colored wood, use a wax that is similar in color or clear. Applying wax is a process that will improve the look of your table.

Things You'll Need

  • Wood wax
  • Soft, lint-free cloths

Instructions

    • 1

Rub a soft, lint-free cloth over the surface of the wood wax, so it is transferred from the wax container to the cloth.

    • 2

Drag the cloth across the table in the same direction as the wood's grain. Only work with thin strips at a time. The cloth shouldn't stop until it has gone across the entire table; you don't want to make start-and-stop marks.

    • 3

Continue this process until wax has been applied to the entire table.

    • 4

Wait 20 minutes so the wood wax can dry.

    • 5

Buff the wax with another soft, lint-free cloth by moving the cloth back and forth across the table, not in circle.

    • 6

Buff back and forth across the table until the entire table has reached the sheen you desire.
