How to Pack a Glass Table Top

Moving is always stressful. One of the best ways to deal with the stress and relieve the tension that goes along with moving is taking the time to pack everything securely and properly. Fragile items such as glass table tops are easily damaged or broken if they are not handled properly. If you are relying on a professional moving company, it is a good idea to talk to them ahead of time. They will have suggestions and materials for packing and protecting your items. However, if you are doing everything yourself, take the necessary precautions for moving your furniture.

Instructions

    • 1

Wrap the table top in packing paper. Secure the paper with tape to ensure that it doesn't work itself loose and expose a part of the table during the moving process.

    • 2

Make a cardboard container for the table top. If you are using a professional moving company, they may provide you with a cardboard container. If you are moving your furniture yourself, then make your own container. Measure the table and find a couple of boxes that fit the table's dimensions. Cut the sides of the boxes to make a front and back side for the cardboard container.

    • 3

Place the tabletop inside of the cardboard container. Secure the container with tape to prevent it from coming open.

Carefully pack the table top. Write packing instructions on the cardboard such as "Fragile" and "Handle with Care." If you are using professional movers, tell them about the contents of the box. If you are moving the table top yourself, place the table top inside the truck so that it is flat against one side. Tie the top with rope to prevent it from shifting or moving. Protect the table top by placing a mattress and box springs next to it.
