Sand the surface of the table top with medium-grit sandpaper to remove the finish, wax buildup, grease, grime and dirt. Use medium-grit or coarser grit sandpaper to rough the surface so it bonds more easily with the Durabond floor leveler.
Wipe the surface with a rag or tack cloth to remove sawdust generated from sanding it the table top.
Apply a coat of universal primer made for wood subfloors to prep the surface for the Durabond floor leveler.
Allow the primer to dry. Usually this takes one hour.
Mix the floor Durabond floor leveler cement in a bucket, closely following the directions on the package. The mixture will have a runny consistency.
Apply a 1/2 to 1-inch coating of floor leveler to the top of the table. The easiest method consists of pouring the floor leveler on the surface and spreading it with a straight edge trowel.
Set the tiles in place on the tabletop.
Allow the floor leveler to dry for four to six hours.
Wipe the newly tiled table top with a damp sponge to make it shine and remove any residue from the tiling process.
