How to Repair Scratches on Your Wood Table

  • Soft cloth
  • Warm water
  • Terry cloth towel
  • Paste shoe polish

      Dampen a soft cloth with warm water. Wring out all excess liquid from the cloth. Wipe the damp cloth over the scratched area of the table to remove any grime and debris.

      Dry the table with a terry cloth towel. The table must be completely clean.

      Apply paste shoe polish to a clean rag. Wipe the rag over the damaged wood to fill the scratch with shoe polish. Use a color of shoe polish that matches the wood finish.

      Wipe a paper towel over the scratch to remove excess shoe polish.

      Buff the repaired area in circular motions, using a microfiber cloth. Blend the repair with the surrounding finish.
