Instructions

    • 1

Dust off the surface of the furniture you are working with and determine how deep the crack is. If you have a small nick or cut in the wood to repair you can likely use a wood putty stick to rub across the crack. This is a tube that is a lot like a glue stick.

    • 2

Clean out debris from the cracked surface. Rub the putty stick along the crack, smooth it out and let it dry if the crack is not deep.

    • 3

Clean the crack of any debris or large wood chips that may be stuck with a putty knife if it's a deeper crack.

    • 4

Fill the crack with the wood filler, epoxy filler or hardener. Pack the filling into the crack so it is firm and fills over the top of the crack. Let the filling dry.

    • 5

Sand down the excess filler to the level of the wood. Sand outward so that you have an even finish over the surface you work with so it doesn't seem patchy.

    • 6

Stain the filler to match the wood and let it dry. Smooth the surface using a buffer cloth. Paint the wood to match if needed. Clean off any excess wood dust or flakes.
