How to Extend a Round Oak Table

Oak, as a furniture material, can complement a broad range of decor choices.   Slide half of the table away from the other. Depending on the table's size, you may be able to pull it apart on your own. Otherwise, find someone to help you.

  Look at the interior surface of the wood for the table's pegs and holes. These will be important when you add the extending leaf.

  Look at the leaf that will extend the table. You should be able to find pegs on one side and holes for pegs to fit into on the other.

  Slide the leaf into the vacant interval between the table halves.

  Look at the newly inserted leaf to be sure its pegs are aligned with the table's peg holes.

  Slide the pegs of the leaf into the table peg holes.

  Slide the table's pegs into the holes of the leaf.

  Close any gaps by shoving the table top together.
