How to Take a Ring Out of a Coffee Table

Perhaps you forgot to put out coasters when entertaining or maybe a careless guest didn't use one. No matter how a water ring ends up on your coffee table, you need to figure out how to remove it. Fortunately, you don't need to worry because it is possible to make your table look good as new again.

  • Soft cloths
  • Furniture wax
  • Toothpaste
  • Mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Baking Soda Method

      Mix 1 tbsp. of baking soda and 1 tsp. of water to form a paste. Wet a soft cloth with the mixture. Rub the coffee table finish with the cloth. Make sure to rub with the grain.

      Continue rubbing for five to 10 minutes.

      Use a soft cloth to clean and dry the spot. Rub 1 tbsp. of furniture wax with a cloth on the spot to seal.

    Toothpaste Method

      Place a quarter-sized drop of toothpaste on a soft cloth.

      Rub the ring with the cloth until the ring comes out.

      Rub the area with a clean soft cloth after removing the ring.

    Mayonnaise Method

      Place a dollop of full-fat mayonnaise on the ring.

      Leave the mayonnaise in place for one hour.

      Wipe the area clean with a soft cloth.
