Easy Way to Polish Granite

Granite covers are popular for a kitchen counter space, back splashes and wall and floor tiling in the home. They are beautiful and natural, but can easily become dull and lifeless if not taken care of. Instead of having to buffer the granite tabletop, there are simple ways to keep the granite cover looking clean and polished, even with day-to-day use.

      Make sure the granite is sealed. Most installed countertops will have already been sealed, but if not, it needs to be sealed before cleaning or polishing can take place. Granite sealer can be purchased at most hardware stores.

      Clean the surface of the granite with a mild dish soap and water mixture. Apply the mixture with the soft side of a sponge. Never use acidic or general household cleaners on granite.

      Mix 1/4-cup of isopropyl alcohol with 1/4-cup water and a 1/4-tbsp. of mild dish soap in a spray bottle. Shake the bottle slightly to mix the ingredients.

      Spray the alcohol mixture lightly over the granite surface.

      wipe the granite in a circular motion using a soft cloth, such as a hand towel, slowly until the mixture has been absorbed and the granite is polished.
