Purchase a 4-inch-thick, 6-foot-diameter round piece of foam from your local craft store. You might need to ask a sales associate for the foam round, as they are often not displayed in the store.
Purchase a 9-by-9-foot square of felt fabric from a crafting store. The fabric can be any color -- however you'd like your poker table to look.
Lay the fabric flat on a clean working surface and place the foam round in the center. Use a staple gun to attach the edges of the felt to the top of the foam round. Pull the felt tight as you staple it so the surface of the table is smooth. The surface of the foam covered by felt is the top of your poker table.
Cut away excess fabric from the bottom of your poker table with a pair of sharp scissors.
Purchase a round dining table base. If you find one at a thrift store or yard sale you can save some money.
Set the round dining table base upside down, in the center of the underside of your poker table. Trace the outline of the base on the foam with a pen. Use a knife to carve out the outline 1-inch deep into the foam. This allows it to fit snugly and not topple over during a card game.
Place the dining table base in the room where you would like to put your poker table and set the foam round on top of it. Press the foam down so the dining table base fits snugly into the carved section.
Remove the foam from the dining table base when you would like to store or move the table.
