How to Apply Envirotex

Envirotex Lite is a pour-on polymer compound used as a sealant to produce a durable, glossy finish on tabletops and many other surfaces. A finished Envirotex surface retains a transparent, high-gloss surface that can be refinished when worn and is relatively easy to apply. Typically, an Envirotex coating only requires one application to produce the desired effect, which generally makes it easier to apply than varnish. Envirotex compound works well for tabletops, bar tops and stools but can also be used for plaques and other keepsakes.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean surface of all dirt, dust and other debris. Ensure surface is clean and dry before preparing mixture.

    • 2

Put on gloves and protective goggles.

    • 3

Measure exact, identical amounts of resin and hardener in measuring cups.

    • 4

Mix measured amounts of resin and hardener in mixing container large enough to hold combined liquids with sufficient room for stirring. Mix vigorously for one minute, making sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the container while stirring.

    • 5

Transfer mixture into a second, clean container and continue mixing vigorously for two minutes.

    • 6

Pour mixture in a circular motion starting at the edge of the surface working inward to the center.

    • 7

Spread excess mixture with plastic spatula to cover surface evenly.

    • 8

Exhale gently on the coated surface to remove air bubbles that appear after pouring the mixture. For larger surfaces, quickly passing a propane torch in a back-and-forth motion 4 to 6 inches from the mixture will also break the air bubbles.

    • 9

Sand off drips along the bottom edges after allowing mixture to set for 30 to 45 minutes.

    • 10

Cover the surface with a plastic sheet to prevent dirt and debris from sticking to the surface while allowing mixture to set for 48 hours. Suspend the plastic sheeting and do not allow it to touch the surface.
