Sand any old finish off the oak wood before using the Watco Danish Oil. Use coarse sandpaper to rough up the finish then smooth it out with fine grit sandpaper to prepare it for the oil. This step is not necessary if the oak does not have a finish already.
Dust the oak wood thoroughly with a feather duster or soft, lint-free cloth. This gets rid of any dirt particles, cobwebs or dust before oiling the surface.
Dip a paintbrush into the Watco Danish Oil.
Apply the paintbrush over the entire surface to coat it with a generous layer of the oil.
Reapply the oil to areas that absorb it quickly once you apply it to all of the surface.
Add another generous coat of oil after allowing it to set for 30 minutes.
Wait for the second coat to set for 15 minutes then wipe off the excess Watco Danish Oil with a soft cloth. Allow the wood to dry an additional eight to 10 hours before using it.
