Put down drop cloths in a garage or other open but covered area.
Move your Canadel table onto the drop cloths.
Fill a bucket with warm or hot water and add a soap degreaser. Clean your Canadel table with the degreaser using sponges. Rinse the Canadel table with a clean sponge and plain water. Let the table air dry.
Put on rubber gloves and dampen a rag in mineral spirits. Rub the mineral spirits into the Canadel table to remove the dulling, old finish. Allow the mineral spirits to evaporate, then rinse with plain water and rags. Let your Canadel table air dry once again.
Sand your Canadel table with medium-grit sandpaper, roughing the wood and completely removing the old finish. Follow the direction of the wood grain when sanding.
Wipe the Canadel table with a tack cloth to lift up dust from sanding. Brush on gel stain with a paintbrush and allow to sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then wipe away the excess gel stain with a clean cloth.
Rub wood varnish into your Canadel table with a steel wool pad, following the wood grain as much as possible -- the steel wool will aid in better penetrating into the wood. Or paint your Canadel table with a matching or new paint color using a brush, if desired. Let dry for up to four hours or as long as recommended by the manufacturer.
