How to Release the Locks on Table Extensions on Furniture

Certain types of tables are adjustable. Portable, folding tables feature adjustable-length legs for ease of transport. Some dining tables include a removable section or leaf that extends the width of the table surface. These types of tables can be convenient because you can insert sections if you are expecting extra people for dinner. In order to extend the legs or surface of a table, you must release the locks and make the necessary adjustments.

Instructions

  1. Extend Table Legs

    • 1

Flip the folded table up so that the red or black lock button faces up.

    • 2

Flip the button and open the table fully. Flip the lock button back in the other direction so the table top remains flat.

    • 3

Locate and press the circular metal button protruding from a hole along the length of the table leg.

    • 4

Pull the leg out to the desired length.

    Extend Table Surface

    • 5

Get under the table and look for a latch of some kind along the seams.

    • 6

Rotate or press the latch button to release the lock.

    • 7

Pull the table apart at the seam and insert the leaf.

    • 8

Press the button or rotate the latch to lock the leaf in place.
