Instructions

    • 1

Cut two long sides from 1-by-4-inch lumber measuring 34 1/2 inches long. Cut two short sides from 1-by-4-inch lumber measuring 15 inches long. Arrange the four sides with the short sides over the ends of the long sides to form a rectangle. Apply glue to the meeting surfaces, then screw the shape together. This is the bottom rectangle; repeat the process to make a top rectangle.

    • 2

Place the top rectangle on a flat space. Cut four 32-inch legs from 2-by-2-inch lumber. Place one of the legs inside a corner of the rectangle, sticking straight up. Apply glue to the meeting surfaces. Attach the legs to the rectangle by screwing through the sides of the rectangle and into the legs. Use two screws on each leg. Repeat the procedure in each corner.

    • 3

Slide the bottom rectangle on top of the first so the four legs go through the center and fit inside its corners. Slide the rectangle in place so it's 1 foot above the first. Glue the bottom rectangle to the legs, then screw it in place. Flip the structure over.

Cut three top boards from 1-by-6-inch lumber to measure 40 inches long. Arrange the boards flat on top of the top rectangle, overhanging the table by 1 inch on all four sides. Fasten the boards in place by screwing through the boards and into the sides of the rectangle, using one screw on each side of the boards.

    • 5

Cut five bottom pieces from 1-by-6-inch lumber, each measuring 15 inches long. Arrange these boards on top of the bottom rectangle, with 1 inch between each, to form a shelf. Attach the bottom pieces to the sides of the bottom rectangle by screwing through the top of the bottom pieces and into the rectangle. Use one screw on each end of the bottom pieces.

Apply wood filler to the table in the cracks and screw holes. Sand the entire table thoroughly. Paint the table using wood stain or paint and allow it to dry. Screw three cup hooks into the top sides of the table to give you a place to hang your barbeque tools.
