Cut a piece of plywood into a circle with a router that is the same diameter as the inside of the rim of the drum. Sand and stain the wood using a clean rag or paintbrush.
Screw four plastic casters into the wood, each 90 degrees apart.
Apply construction glue inside the rim of the drum. Press the wood firmly into the bottom of the drum until it is flush with the bottom of the instrument. Allow the glue to set for at least an hour before continuing any further work on the drum.
Use the inside of the drum as a display case for your collectibles. Arrange a pair of drum sticks, a vintage piccolo, a discarded harmonica and a rusty trumpet inside the bass drum.
Order a piece of circular tempered glass, or cut transparent thermoplastic to fit snugly inside the top rim of the drum. Secure it to the drum using construction glue. Another option is to screw hinges to the transparent thermoplastic with a screw gun and attach it to one side of the drum with 1/2-inch screws. This allows you to raise and lower the glass whenever you want to change the display inside the table.
Draw 2-inch circles on the outside of the drum in no particular pattern with a router. Cut one of the circles near the bottom of the drum.
Cut a piece of plywood to fit the bottom of the drum using a router. Sand and stain the wood. Glue it to the bottom of the drum with construction glue.
Place a flush mount ceiling light in the bottom of the drum. Run the cord from the light through a hole near the drum.
Cut a piece of transparent thermoplastic to fit on top of the rim of the drum with a router. Screw hinges into one side of the thermoplastic. Screw the other side of the hinges to the top side of the drum.
Plug the light cord into the nearest outlet. This table provides an innovative display of light for your game room or living room.
