How to Build an End Table With Bamboo Plywood

Bamboo plywood is a renewable and attractive resource. Its quick and sustainable growth far exceeds that of traditional wood sources, making it an inexpensive and modern alternative to standard lumber building materials. Some of bamboo's best applications lie in small-scale projects such as eating ware and small furniture such as end tables or coffee tables. With an increase in the use of materials such as bamboo plywood, though, the proliferation of bamboo in standard furniture and construction will continue to increase.

Instructions

    • 1

Position four 1-by-1-by-24-inch bamboo posts upright and underneath a 1/2-by-12-by-12-inch bamboo plywood board. Adjust the spacing of the posts until they are in the four corners of the plywood board, which is the leg support board. Drill one hole down through each corner of the top of the leg support board and into each post. Set 1-inch wood screws within each hole and tighten them to bring the post and board tightly together.

    • 2

Set a 1/2-by-2-by-10-inch bamboo plywood board between one pair of posts with its largest surface facing outward. Raise the board, which is an end table side board, up until its thinnest surface is in contact with the underside of the leg support board.

    • 3

Drill two holes through each post and into the side board ends for a total of four holes. Set 2-inch wood screws in each hole and use a drill to tighten them securely. Repeat to install side boards between each set of posts for a total of four side boards.

    • 4

Invert a 1-by-14-by-14-inch bamboo plywood table top so the best side is facing the working surface. Invert the assembled end table structure so that the top surface of the leg support board is pressed against the underside of the tabletop.

    • 5

Drill four holes through the leg support board and into the end table tabletop, being careful not to puncture the tabletop by drilling through it completely. Set four 1-inch screws in the predrilled holes and use a drill to tighten the screws in place, firmly attaching the lower part of the table to the tabletop. Right the end table.
