Removing Water Spots in Wood With an Iron

Wood is a beautiful furniture material that can unfortunately be damaged quite easily. A simple glass of water without a coaster leaves its mark on wood tabletops in the form of water spots. These stains leave unsightly marks on otherwise beautiful wooden coffee tables, side tables and nightstands.

A simple way to get rid of water stains on wood is to use an iron. Usually, high heat and wood is a poor combination, but when implemented correctly, an iron can sometimes remove water spots from wood surfaces.

Things You'll Need

  • Clean white cloth

Instructions

    • 1

Lay a clean white cloth on the water spot.

    • 2

Heat an iron to a mid-range temperature. Turn off the steam setting.

    • 3

Place the iron on top of the white cloth as if you intend to iron the fabric. Leave the iron in place for only a few seconds.

    • 4

Lift away the iron and cloth. Check the stain.

    • 5

Turn up the temperature on the iron and try again if a mid-range temperature fails to remove the water spots.
