Clean the teak furniture every six months using a cleaner designed for wood furniture. Apply the cleaner to a soft rag, and then wipe away any dirt, dust or stains.
Apply teak oil to the wood periodically to help brighten the furniture's finish. Use a rag to rub the teak oil into the wood, or paint it on using a regular paintbrush, making sure to work in the same direction as the grain of the wood.
Enhance the furniture's silvery patina by wiping away the material's natural oils using a dry rag. The patina will develop naturally over three to six months, but you can speed up the process by drying up the protective oils.
Refinish the teak if you would like to change its color or brighten its appearance. To refinish, first sand the wood using a low grit sandpaper, then apply a wood stain using a rag or paintbrush.
Protect your furniture from extreme cold by bringing it inside on very cold days. To prevent mildew, don't leave your teak furniture sitting outside in snow or heavy rain. Consider relocating the items if they are sitting in an area that is subject to frequent bouts of still water after storms.
