How to Clean White Plastic Chairs

It's almost a tradition, year after year, to clean off the old white plastic chairs. With their affordability and little maintenance, these chairs don't need much work to be cleaned off and ready for use. If you make a habit of cleaning your patio furniture every year or so it will last longer and be in as good as new condition. Put on some grungy clothes, head outside with your tools and in a little less than an hour you should be done.

Water hose
Standard surface cleaner, suitable for plastic
Used cloths or rags
Old toothbrush

Instructions

  Set out your chairs in an area of the lawn that receives sunlight. Spray down the chairs with a full blast of a water hose to clear away any debris or spider webs from the top and underside.

  Spray a chair with your surface cleaner and allow it to sit for a few seconds. Clean one chair at a time to avoid having the cleaner dry in the sun.

  Wipe the chair with a rag to clean off the dirt. Be sure to get in between any crevices or decorative lines. Use an old toothbrush to get into the creases of the chair.

  Spray each chair with the cleaner a second time if necessary and wipe with a new cloth. The original cloth you used may end up putting dirt back on the chair.

  Use the water hose to spray the chairs again, rinsing excess chemicals off the plastic. Allow your chairs to dry in the sun or wipe them down with an additional rag.
