How to Clean Outdoor Pine Wood Furniture After Sanding

If your outdoor pine wood furniture has been weathering the elements, then it may be looking a little worse for wear. You can clean it up by sanding it, but you will need to clean after you have sanded to lock in your new, beautiful look. The best way to clean outdoor pine wood is not to use water at all. You should use specific substances depending on what your plans are for the wood once it is clean.

Wipe down the pine with turpentine. Dab the rag in a small can of turpentine, then rub down the furniture. Wipe down the furniture going with the grain. Be sure to use plenty of turpentine. This is the best way to clean the wood if you are going to paint the furniture with a wood stain next.

Wash the furniture with denatured alcohol. Soak one end of your rag in denatured alcohol. Wipe down the wooden furniture. Be sure to cover every angle of the furniture, top and bottom. This is the best preparation if you plan to paint the furniture once it is clean.

Get a natural look with linseed oil. Dab your rag in linseed oil and wipe off the sanded pine. The linseed oil will bring out the grain, as well as waterproof the wood, making for a nice natural look.
