Homemade Hammock Stands

You could hang your hammock from your trees, which may not be that convenient. Or you could build a hammock stand. Building your own hammock stand is not only easy but it is also something that can then be moved around, so that you can place it anywhere in your yard, depending on where the shade is.
  1. Materials

    • Before you build your hammock stand you need to gather all of the things that you will need in the way of tools and materials. You will definitely need three 8-foot 2x4 beams, two 4-foot 2x4 beams, a power drill with Phillips driver bit, countersink bit No. 6, eight 3-inch bolts, two 6-inch eyebolts, a pencil and measuring tape.

    Building

    • Start from the ground and work your way up. Take the two 4-foot 2x4 boards and place them parallel to each other. Take one of the 8-foot 2x4 boards and lay it horizontally so that each end connects with each 4-foot board. Attach the 8-foot board to the 4-foot boards with screws so they are firmly connected. Cut the remaining 8-foot 2x4s at a 30 degree angle and attach them to each end of the horizontal base board (about 2 feet in from each end). This will give you a V frame hammock stand.

    Finishing Up

    • Attach the two 6-inch eyebolts to the insides of the two posts. Attach them as high or low to the posts as you like; this will determine the height of your hammock.
