How to Replace the Canopy Cover on a Home Depot Swing

During the spring and summer seasons, Home Depot sells a wide selection of swings and canopy covers. Home Depot guarantees that if a new canopy cover requires replacement during the first 90 days from purchase because of pre-existing damage or product defect, you can exchange the cover---or cover and swing (if sold together)---if you provide an original sales receipt and the product is still in stock. As Home Depot does not carry or special order canopy covers for replacement purposes, replacing the canopy cover for your Home Depot swing requires slightly more effort than a trip to your Home Depot retail store.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove a tie-style canopy cover. Your canopy cover may have plain fabric ties, fabric ties with hook-and-loop fasteners or fabric ties with snap buttons that affix the cover to the metal or wooden frame of your swing. Untie, unhook or unsnap the cover in order to remove it.

    • 2

Remove a tubular or looped-style canopy cover. These covers, used specifically with swing frames that have a tubular metal design or that use metal rods, has fabric tubes or loops that the top portion of the metal frame slides into. Some of these designs use hook-and-loop fasteners to affix the loops or tubes around the frame while others use metal rods that you must first unbolt from the rest of the frame and then slide through the tubes. Unhook the fabric tubes or loops to remove the cover from the metal frame, or unbolt the top portion of the metal frame using your hand or a wrench, then gently slide the canopy cover from the frame or metal rods.

    • 3

Search the inside of your canopy for an inked on, embroidered or sewn-in label with the model number, manufacturer's name and/or contact information. If your canopy cover came with your swing, check the rest of the patio swing (metal or wooden frame, swing, cushions) to find this information.

    • 4

Check your Home Depot sales receipt, if you could not find the information on your canopy or swing, for the model name, manufacturer's name or product name.

    • 5

Contact the manufacturer to order your canopy cover replacement or to request a list of manufacturer-approved vendors that sell replacements.

    • 6

Take your old canopy cover to a professional upholsterer to have a replacement canopy cover crafted from scratch if you do not have manufacturer's or product information.

    • 7

Install your canopy cover replacement by reversing the instructions outlined in Steps 1 and 2. Follow any additional manufacturer's instructions as outlined in the owner's manual for your canopy cover or canopy swing.
