Instructions

    • 1

Create a base for your lawn chair by measuring and cutting four 2 feet by 4 feet pieces of wood that are 28 inches long. Place the wood on the ground and form the pieces into a square. Attach the pieces using wood screws.

    • 2

Measure and cut two 2-by-4 pieces into four 30-inch pieces. Place them horizontally across the top of the base of the chair. Secure them in place using wood screws at each corner. Make sure the top of the screws are visible from the top of the seat and even with the wood.

    • 3

Make the legs of the chair by measuring and cutting four additional 2-by-4 pieces of wood that are 24 inches long. Use wood screws to attach one leg at a time to an inside corner of the base.

    • 4

Measure and cut two 2-by-4 pieces of wood 15 inches in length; this is used to make the back of the chair. Place the two pieces in a vertical position on opposite sides of each other next to the base. Attach with wood screws.

    • 5

Finish the backing by measuring and cutting three 2-by-4 pieces of wood 30 inches in length. Screw the three pieces in a horizontal position to the vertical backing pieces.

    • 6

Add arms to your chair by measuring and cutting two 2-by-4 pieces that are 24 inches long. Measure and cut four pieces that are 12 inches long.

    • 7

Screw two of the 12-inch pieces on one side of the base of the chair in a vertical position. Screw one 24-inch piece to the top of the arm post to create an arm rest. Repeat on the other side.

Cover your chair with a clear protective coat of varnish.
