How to Get an Umbrella to Tilt

Giant outdoor umbrellas are incredibly useful for providing shade in a sunny environment. However, this usefulness is limited by the angle of the sun and the angle of the umbrella. While changing the sun's path across the sky is impossible, getting your umbrella to tilt is not. You can have an adjustable umbrella in a matter of minutes.

Instructions

  1. How to Get an Umbrella to Tilt

    • 1

Take a large plant pot (5 gallons or more, depending on the size of your umbrella) and place it next to the area where shade is desired.

    • 2

Place the bottom of the umbrella in the pot, and tilt it to the desired angle.

    • 3

Fill the pot with sand until the umbrella is able to remain in the desired position without you holding on to it. The weight of the sand and the plant pot should hold the umbrella in place.

    • 4

Adjust the angle of the umbrella by shifting the bottom within the plant pot.
