How to Make Adirondack Furniture

Adirondack chairs have a clean, classic look that makes them very popular in lawns, porches or patios. Adirondack chairs' simple design also make them relatively easy to build. Some cutting of wood may be required, but with a materials and cutting list or an Adirondack chair kit, all you have to do is put it together.

Instructions

  1. Building an Adirondack Chair

    • 1

Using the materials and cutting list, either cut the boards to the specification or have a local lumber yard provide the cut boards as needed.

    • 2

Create the base by screwing the seat slats into the chair frame boards.

    • 3

Attach the front arm supports so the front of the chair is off the ground. The chair frame board will act as the other support for the chair on the ground. The seat of the chair should set at a 63 degree angle.

    • 4

Attach the back supports to the chair frame boards with screws along with the horizontal back supports. Attach the vertical back slats to the frame to complete the chair.

    • 5

Sand the chair to remove any rough spots and varnish or paint the chair to whatever color is desired.
