Sun the wood. Before applying any teak cleaner or sealer, allow the furniture to sit in the sun for several days, up to a week. This opens up the pores of the wood, which allows the sealer to be absorbed and provide longer lasting protection.
Clean the wood. If your teak patio furniture has been neglected and is now badly weather with black spots, it will be necessary to clean the wood before applying a sealant. This can be done by using commercial cleaners and brighteners or by scrubbing the furniture with diluted bleach. Some light sanding might also be required if surfaces have become ragged and uneven.
Spray on sealer. Use a spray on teak sealer to restore the original appearance of your teak furniture. Spray on evenly and lightly. Once the first coat dries completely add a second.
