How to Fold Adirondack Chairs

A pair of Adirondack chairs sitting on a front porch or back deck is a traditional and attractive touch to any outdoor space. When the warm weather season ends and it is time to prepare for cold weather, folding Adirondack chairs enable you to put your chairs away out of the winter elements. Fold Adirondack chairs up flat and store them away neatly and compactly until the weather warms again in the spring.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the two wooden pins on both sides of the front chair supports---one pin at each side of the chair near the front.

    • 2

Cover a peg with the rag to prevent damaging it with the pliers.

    • 3

Position the pliers around the peg over the rag and pull the peg straight out of the hole. Do not squeeze the pliers so hard that you dent the pegs with the pressure of the pliers.

    • 4

Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to remove the wooden peg on the other side of the Adirondack chair.

    • 5

Fold up the Adirondack chair by pulling the back of the chair forward until the chair collapses flat. Put the chair away in a dry location where it will be out of the wind and precipitation.

    • 6

Place the pegs in a safe place where you will be able to locate them to reconstruct the chair the following spring.
