How to Remove Grease Stains From Trex

Trex is an environmentally friendly decking and railing material made from about 50 percent recycled plastic and 50 percent recycled wood. It will not warp, splinter or rot and thus is a good material to use in areas that receive a lot of precipitation. As with any building material, it will likely need to be cleaned from time to time. Trex materials have a built-in stain blocker that makes the cleanup of spills and stains much easier. With a little bit of your time and a few common household items you should be able to make your Trex materials look as good as new.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a 2- to 3-gallon bucket with warm soapy water. Use a gentle cleaner such as dish detergent.

    • 2

Pour a small amount of the water and soap solution onto the stained area. Allow it to sit on the area for around five minutes.

    • 3

Dip a soft-bristled brush in the remainder of soapy liquid left in the bucket. Gently use the brush to lift the stain from the grain of the decking.

    • 4

Rinse the area with cool fresh water from a bucket or garden hose.

    • 5

Contact your Trex manufacturer if the stain is not able to be removed. Most Trek decking materials come with a 10-year warranty that covers stains.
