How to Clean Teak Outdoor Furniture

Teak wood is often used to make outdoor furniture, such as benches, chairs and tables, due to its ability to withstand the elements. But just because it holds up well in outdoor conditions doesn't mean teak doesn't require cleaning. Use laundry detergent and a soft brush to clean your teak furniture.

Mix equal parts laundry detergent and water in a bucket. Remove any cushions from the teak furniture and set them aside.

Dip a scrub brush into the cleaning solution and scrub gently as you work your way over the surface of the teak furniture.

Apply dry detergent to tough stains, and rub it in with the liquid mixture to lift set-in stains.

    • 4

Let the soapy mixture sit on the furniture for 15 minutes. Empty the bucket, rinse it out and refill with clean water. Run the scrub brush under water to remove dirt and cleaning solution.

Pour water over the furniture to rinse off the cleaning solution. Use your brush to scrub off any loose debris or grime that remains. Allow furniture a few hours to dry completely.
