Lay a drop cloth in your workspace. Because you will spray paint the furniture, a space outdoors or in a garage with the door open could be ideal.
Remove any flaking paint by lightly scrubbing the surface of the furniture back and forth with a soft wire brush. Remove paint that is chipping or flaking in the crevices.
Clean the furniture with a sponge and soapy water. Rinse it with a water hose.
Allow the furniture to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.
Turn the furniture upside down and spray the primer on in a thin layer. Pay attention to the crevices. Spray the paint on from different angles to ensure good coverage. Use gentle sweeping motions to guide the paint bottle.
Turn the furniture right side up and repeat the priming process.
Apply at least two coats of primer to the item allowing 1 hour for the primer to dry between layers.
Use the same process to apply at least two coats of paint. Allow the paint to dry for at least 1 hour between coats.
Allow the paint to dry at least 24 hours before sitting on it.
