How to Fix Lawn Chairs

If your lawn chair's webbing has broken or unraveled, you may wish to repair the chair instead of throwing it away. Repairing your lawn chair is less expensive than replacing it. You do not need extensive skills or tools to repair your lawn chairs. When purchasing the material to repair your lawn chairs, purchase matching webbing if possible so that no one will notice the repairs.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the screws holding the old webbing onto the lawn chair with your screwdriver, and remove the webbing.

    • 2

Cut the new webbing strap to size, using the old webbing strap as a template. Add 1 inch to the length of the webbing strap.

    • 3

Fold one end of the webbing strap in a triangle by folding over one edge and then the other.

    • 4

Make a hole in the end of the webbing strap with your awl, hammer and wood block. Place the wood block behind the webbing strap and tap the awl with your hammer. The awl gently punctures the wood block. Remove the awl and wood block from the webbing strap.

    • 5

Weave the new webbing strap through the lawn chair following the original pattern. Attach the webbing to the lawn chair frame by placing a washer and screw over the hole you made with the awl, hammer and wood block. Screw it onto the frame with a screw and screwdriver.

    • 6

Stretch the webbing (unscrewed end) and cut to size with your scissors.

    • 7

Fold the unfinished end of the webbing strap into a triangle by folding over one edge and then the other.
