Caring for Outdoor Wicker Furniture

Wicker is a popular choice for patio furnishings. Weaving vines, grass or flexible branches into beautiful furniture or accessories makes it sturdy and durable. Wicker looks beautiful in both indoor and outdoor settings. The furnishings give any area a casual, tropical look and will last for years if given the proper care. Wicker furniture can have a natural, stained or painted finish. It will enhance your patio or gazebo area and provide comfortable seating for your friends, family and neighbors.

    • 2

Remove debris stuck in the weave of the wicker with an old toothbrush or other brush.

    • 3

Wash your wicker furniture on a regular basis (about once a month) with mild liquid dishwashing soap and water and a damp sponge.

    • 4

Rinse thoroughly with a water hose or another damp sponge.

    • 5

Allow the furniture to dry in a sunny area and avoid sitting on it before it is completely dry.

    Cleaning Stains

    • 6

Scrub stains or grimy buildup with a scrubbing brush and soapy water or an all-purpose cleaner, such as Fantastik or 409.

    • 7

Rinse the wicker thoroughly with a water hose.

    • 8

Place the outdoor wicker furniture in a sunny spot in your yard to ensure thorough drying.
