Christmas Ideas for My Red Throw Pillows on My Porch

If the red throw pillows on your porch furniture need a little dose of holiday spirit, then add a few decorations to make them more festive. Decide ahead of time if you want to use your red pillows after the Christmas holiday is over. If you do, work on a craft project that can be taken apart and will not harm the pillow. If not, consider using hot glue to embellish your red pillows.
  1. Christmas Pillow Covers

    • Purchase a set of Christmas-themed pillow covers that display a Christmas tree, a nativity scene, stars or bright baubles. Or decorate a plain pillow cover with felt cut-outs, sequins, craft pom-poms and hot glue. Cover your red throw pillows with the Christmas-themed pillows. After Christmas, you can remove the covers and continue using the plain red pillows with your porch furniture.

    NOEL Letters

    • Cut out the letters "N," "O," "E" and "L" from white felt. You may want to use a stencil. Then attach one letter on each throw pillow with hot glue. If you do not want to damage the red throw pillows, pin the felt letters to the pillows using straight pins. Arrange the red throw pillows on your porch furniture so that they spell out the word "noel." For more or fewer pillows, use other seasonal words, such as "joy" or "peace."

    Pin a Little Trim

    • Use straight pins, safety pins or hot glue to attach festive trim around the four sides of your red throw pillows. For a permanent change, use hot glue. If you want to use your pillows after Christmas, use pins. Simply select a fabric trim that is red, white, green, gold, silver or a mixture of any of these colors. You can mix and match the trim as long as you stick with the Christmas color palette.
