Place two 2-inch by 12-inch by 16-inch boards parallel to each other with the outside edges 48 inches apart on a work surface. These are the legs. The 2-inch by 12-inch ends should be flat on a work surface, and the 12-inch by 16-inch sides should be facing each other.
Align the 2-inch by 12-inch by 48-inch board over the top ends of the legs with the 12-inch by 48-inch side flat. This is the seat. Make sure the outsides of the legs are flush with the ends of the seat.
Drive four evenly spaced stainless-steel wood screws through the top of the seat into the ends of the legs to fasten them in place, using a screw gun.
Insert the 2-inch by 6-inch by 45-inch board between the legs and align the 2-inch by 45-inch side with the center of the seat as you slide it up flush with the bottom of the seat board. This is the center support. Drive three evenly spaced stainless-steel wood screws through the outside of the legs into the ends of the center support on each end.
Drive screws through the seat into the center support every 6 inches along the length of the seat.
Place the bench in the desired location on the deck. If you plan to fasten the bench to the deck, insert two L-brackets on the inside of the legs with the brackets against the leg and decking boards. Position each of the brackets 2 inches in from the outside edges of each leg. Drive the provided screws through the holes in the brackets into the decking boards and inside the legs.
