How to Care for Cypress Furniture

Mix up a solution of liquid dish soap and warm water. Soak a sponge in the solution and scrub the furniture to remove dirt and light stains. Rinse the furniture with clean water and let it air dry.

Scrub the wood lightly with 600-grit sandpaper if the furniture has water stains. Sand the furniture just enough so the stains are removed. Brush away any wood shavings with a clean dish towel.

Apply an oil-based wood stain to the cypress furniture once per year to preserve its new appearance. If you want a more natural look, apply a clear sealer or low-sheen lacquer instead of the stain. Follow the directions on the product for best results.

Cover any cypress furniture kept outdoors with a waterproof furniture cover when it's not in use. This will help prevent damage from sun, rain and snow.
