Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length and width of your lawn chair. Add 2 inches to each measurement and write these numbers down.

    • 2

Wash and dry your canvas fabric and trim off any hanging threads from the edges. Iron the fabric with a hot steam setting to remove wrinkles. Place on a flat, hard surface.

    • 3

Cut out two rectangles from your canvas fabric. Each rectangle should be the same size as the measurements you wrote down.

    • 4

Place your canvas rectangles right side together and pin around both short edges and one long edge. Change your sewing needle to the size 16 needle, which will allow you to easily sew through the heavy canvas fabric.

    • 5

Sew around the three pinned edges with a straight seam and a half-inch seam allowance. Backstitch at both ends of your seam to secure your stitches.

    • 6

Turn down the top raw edge of your lawn chair tote ¼-inch all the way around. Iron this fold into place. Fold down an additional inch all the way around and iron into place. Pin the folded edges.

    • 7

Cut a 32-inch length of cotton webbing. Stitch both raw ends with a zigzag stitch to prevent the ends from fraying.

    • 8

Place one end of the cotton webbing to top of each side seam on the bag to create a carrying strap. Center the webbing over the seam and line up the end of the webbing so it meets the folded lower edge of the top of the canvas bag. Pin into place.

    • 9

Sew around the entire top edge of the bag, using a straight seam and a ¼ inch seam allowance. Take your time sewing over the cotton webbing. Backstitch at both ends of your seam.

    • 10

Trim any excess threads and turn your bag right-side out. Place your folded lawn chair in your bag.
