Instructions

    • 1

Spread pieces of muslin fabric over the seat pad and back rest of the wicker seat to make patterns for the cushions. Let the muslin drape naturally over the seat and trace each cushion's outline.

    • 2

Place the sheets of muslin flat on a table. Draw lines over the trace marks to highlight them. Carefully cut over the lines with scissors.

    • 3

Center a piece of foam over a muslin cushion pattern. Cut along the edges of the foam with a utility knife, using the muslin sheet as a template. Repeat the process until you have foam templates for all of the cushions of the wicker seat.

    • 4

Spread decorative fabric for the cushion cover on a table. Brush it with your hands to remove any creases before folding it in half width-wise. Place each muslin form over the fabric, aligning it so it rests evenly over the fabric.

    • 5

Pin a muslin form to the fabric to keep it in place. Add 1 1/2 to 2 inches all around the muslin form on the fabric for seam allowances before cutting the fabric with scissors. You have two identical pieces of cover for one cushion. Repeat the process for remaining muslin cushion forms. Take out the pins and put them aside.

    • 6

Flip the decorative fabric so the inner side faces outward. Place two identical pieces over one another and sew three sides together with a machine. Sew an additional line 1/4- to 1/2-inch outward from this stitch for added security. Cut off any loose edges and thread from the raw sides with scissors. Turn the cover to expose its right side.

    • 7

Push the foam into the cover through the open end, adjusting its position so its corners correspond to the corners of the fabric. Handsew the cover closed.
