How to Slipcover an Ottoman

Most of us have a tired ottoman hanging around that is functional but not very pretty. Now you don't have to worry about purchasing another piece of furniture and hoping it works as well as what you have. Instead, you can recover your existing ottoman with a hand made slipcover.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the butcher paper over the top of the ottoman and add an inch on each edge for seam allowances.

    • 2

Label this as the top of your ottoman.

    • 3

Continue on each side of the ottoman. This will be the pattern for your slipcover.

    • 4

Lay the butcher paper pattern on your fabric and cut out each section.

    • 5

Sew the sections together, making sure to attach the right sides together.

    • 6

Iron the seams flat and turn the slipcover right side out.

    • 7

Upholster your ottoman with your new slipcover. An extra pair of hands is helpful at this stage to insure a proper fit and to help make any adjustments needed.
